Period Positivity Workshop for Pre-Teens & Parents

Give your child the body literacy and menstrual cycle education you wish you received!

Think back to when you were your kid’s age.

You didn’t talk about periods when you were growing up because it felt embarrassing or taboo.

You didn’t know what to do when you got your first period and felt unprepared.

You were confused about how to use a tampon or which period product was right for you.

You know first-hand how much you wish you had learned this when you were younger.

Your child can have a completely different experience.

Periods are our superpower

You want your child to be excited and prepared for her periods.

Confidence

Your child feels open and confident talking about their period without shame or embarrassment.

Knowledge

They know exactly what to expect from their first period and how to take care of themselves when it happens.

Understanding

Instead of confusion, your child understands the different period products available and how to choose the right one for them.

Self-care

They’ve mastered simple self-care tips to manage cramps, mood swings, and other period symptoms, giving them control over their body and emotions.

Why we’re doing this:

Imagine being 9 years old and learning that your period isn’t gross, it’s awesome. That bleeding isn’t dirty, it’s magic. That instead of feeling embarrased, you feel powerful.

Girls and menstruators today get to grow up learning that their bodies are just the coolest things.

Boys and non-menstruators will understand the cool things about periods and how to support the girls in their life - whether it’s a classmate or a sister.

Your child will have the tools, knowledge and confidence to navigate their period with ease.

you will make connections to your body, too!

  • I really enjoyed it and it gave me so much understanding about what happens. Now I know how to prevent cramps and what I can do to take care of my body!

    Siena, 13

  • It was a lot more chill and less awkward than learning about it from my mom or at school.

    Lilah, 13

  • I enjoyed how informative, interactive and open the session was. I loved the activities, especially with the period products! I love how girls can openly discuss with their friends and moms about periods from an informed source (without getting misinformed). Even as an adult, I left learning something new!

What your daughter will walk away with

Confidence in Their Body and Cycle

Your child will have a deep understanding of their menstrual cycle, including how to identify different phases and what each phase means. They'll feel confident knowing exactly where they are in their cycle at any given time, which acts like a “monthly report card” for their overall health.

Empowerment Through Body Literacy

We’ll empower your child with body literacy—understanding the signals their body gives, what’s normal and when to ask for help. They’ll have the confidence to take charge of their health.

Self-Care Tools for Managing Symptoms

From managing cramps to dealing with mood swings, your child will leave with practical self-care tips they can implement immediately. This knowledge will help them feel capable of supporting themselves for years to come.

Comfort with Period Products

Your child will get hands-on experience with a variety of period products—pads, tampons, menstrual cups, and more—so they can confidently choose the product that works best for them. No more confusion. Just clear, practical knowledge.

This is for you if:

You wish you had someone tell you what was going on when you were little.

You have a daughter and have absolutely no idea how to talk to her about her periods. Maybe you have some idea, but you know that proper education of what a period is, why we even get them and how they work will help her relationship with her body and cycle for years to come.

You grew up in the 90s or before, and so you know that the period education given in schools was not…um, how do we say this? Accurate? Helpful? Sufficient? Hey, it was a different time, and we didn’t talk about things like this, but times have changed and your children deserve proper, precise, period education that leaves them feeling empowered, informed and prepared.

This isn’t for you if:

You’re not ready for your children to learn about the menstrual cycle.

You won’t be able to attend. We have found that the best part of the class happens after - on the way home or when you’re saying goodnight - and your child wants to talk with you. The ability to have open communication with your child on a topic that has historically been shrouded in shame and stigma starts with you. It’s okay, you don’t have to have all the answers, but being there to learn alongside them about their changing body, likely at a time when your body is also going through changes, can be quite a bonding exercise.

You’re not ready to learn about the menstrual cycle. It doesn’t matter if you never had a menstrual cycle, if you stopped having menstrual cycles or if you never talked about menstrual cycles due to cultural or societal norms. Knowledge is power. By providing accurate and positive education to our kids, we know they will feel ready for their cycles, and not ashamed, embarrassed or fearful.

basic body literacy

Meet your mentor, Michelle

Founder of haus of flow

Let's be honest, none of us received a proper education, so we never actually learned what was happening in our body, why we even got periods or how to know if something wasn't normal.

As the youngest of four daughters, I grew up in a house full of girls and still felt clueless and totally unprepared when I had my first period! Can you relate?

I started learning about the menstrual cycle in 2019 and it completely changed my life. I thought nothing could be more important than telling everyone about the magic of our cycles! So, I quit my job in tech and completely changed careers to become a Fertility Awareness Educator, Period Positivity Facilitator and Menstrual Health Practitioner.

It is my mission to teach as many people as possible about our cycles, starting with the very first period, so that nobody ever has to just deal with cramps, heavy bleeding, PMS, side effects from the pill, low energy, or just hating their period - because that is NOT “just a part of being a girl”.

My goal is to make learning about periods cool, fun and one of the most exciting parts of growing up!

 Frequently Asked Questions

  • The class is aimed at ages 8-14. Older teens are welcome, as we have found that they also enjoy learning about their cycles in a relaxed environment. Younger kids or siblings are allowed, so long as they are supervised and do not disrupt the class for the other participants.

  • This is menstrual cycle education. Sex education and sexual health will not be discussed. We have found that if a student does has a question, then we will answer the question in an age-appropriate way. We have found that parents appreciate their children learning about the body in an appropriate way from a qualified instructor. This also helps to normalize the topics and helps avoid confusion or embarrassment as kids get older and are embarrassed to ask questions.

  • Nope! Period education is for everyone. We have found that you are able to better support the menstruators in your life when you have an understanding of what is going on. That's why this class is aimed pre-teens and parents, not just moms and daughters. This is menstrual education for the modern era, for everyone!
